【摘要】:Thearchivingofextractsrecoveredfromfiredebrisorliquidssubmittedinafireinvestigationprovidesamechanismtopreserveextractsandliquidsforreanalysisintheeventthatsampleloss,sampledegradation,orfailureofthefiredebriscontaineroccursduringpost-analysisstorageoffiredebrisevidence.Thenatureofsomeextractionprocedures,whichmayprecludereanalysis,isconsidered.Changestoapreservedsampleextractandthelengthoftimeitremainsviableunderstorageconditionsareunknown.Theconcentrationandcompositionoftheignitableliquidresidueortheuseofanalternateextraction/concentrationtechniqueusedtopreserveasampleextractofthefiredebrissamplemayresultindifferentfindingsbetweentheanalysisofthepreservedsampleandtheoriginalanalysis.1.1Thispracticedescribesproceduresforpreservingresiduesofignitableliquidsinextractsobtainedfromfiredebrissamplesandquestionedignitableliquidsamples.ExtractionproceduresaredescribedintheReferencedDocuments.1.2Thispracticedoesnotattempttoaddressalltheissuesregardingtheshort-termorlong-termstorageofignitableliquidsamplesandignitableliquidextractsfromfiredebrissamples.Thechangesthatmayoccurundervariousstorageconditionshavenotbeenfullydocumented.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
